The Industry Report: Out With The Old; In With The New

You've told us many times The Industry Report provides you with solid coverage of mountain resort industry issues. A wise prophet (don't ask us who) once said, the time for change is when things are rolling along. So, this is the final issue of The Industry Report as you know it.

The "new" IR makes its debut Sept. 24. Look for it on the third Monday of each month from that point on. The monthly format allows us to delve deeply into issues about which you care. We will laser in on research, the story behind the story, continue providing quotes from those making the news, charts, photos, and much more. Each issue will focus on a single subject.

So, what won't we do? We won't seek out "breaking news." You can get that anywhere from Associated Press, Google, and others. We no longer will be bound by short deadlines that limit a journalistic approach.

We will tap into the Mountain News worldwide network of 16 professional snow and travel journalists who report for OnTheSnow. We will bring in other professionals as subjects merit them. The coverage will be led by Roger Leo, Mountain News Executive Editor; Patrick Thorne, The Industry Report European Editor; and Craig Altschul, Mountain News Editor-In-Chief.

What It Means: The "new" IR won't look much different than it does now. Until you read it, that is. Thank you very much for so many nice comments - and the occasional well-deserved brickbat over the years. Look for us next month.
