The firm decided it needed to issue a statement underlying its financial stability after Fortis, an international provider of banking and insurance services, published a report on the debt situation of several French companies. The statement reads: "Compagnie des Alpes wishes to emphasize that its financial situation issound and especially that it is respecting all of its financial covenants.The capital intensity andsustainability of the Group's operations aresufficient to warrant long-term debt financing. It has therefore soughtlong-term maturity dates, chiefly in 2011.
