New LG Ski TV Network Raises Bar

By Craig Altschul
August 16, 2007

Ski TV Studio
Mountain resort operators are deciding now on the use of a brand new high-tech product called LG Ski TV Network that brings a customized, income-producing digital HDTV network into resort base lodges. There is no cost for resorts to participate.

"We're offering resort partners the most cutting edge HDTV entertainment system on the market," Bob Corrao told The Industry Report Thursday. "LG Ski TV Network will enhance the visitors' experience and serve as a revenue enhancement tool."

Corrao, a long-time marketing partner with the NBA and NHL, is CEO of Sports Impact Publishing. His company publishes Rinkside and Courtside Magazines for season ticket holders. His Ski Impact subsidiary has provided "weather boards" to ski areas since 1964, and has morphed into Ski TV.

LG Electronics ("Living Good") is a multinational corporation operating in 80 countries. It is presently the world's largest manufacturer of plasma and LCD high definition televisions. LG is the title sponsor of the Ski Network and is providing one or more 47-inch Jumbo LCD TVs to partnering resorts.

Corrao said the network will program sports, weather, lifestyle TV, and business breaks, with broadcast content tailored to individual resorts. The telecast will appear to guests as being locally based. Resorts may sell two :30 spots per hour to marketing partners or local off-mountain advertisers, or use them to promote ski school, real estate, and other ventures. Spots are simply uploaded to LG Ski Network's master portal.

LG Ski TV's "state of the art" operation center in Atlanta ensures the network is fully operational, Corrao said. The service is being marketed through veteran industry rep John Siewerski of Siewerski Consulting (jsiewierski@gmail.com).
