State Sanctioned Facelift For Whiteface
By J.D. O'Connor August 21, 2006
Gov. George Pataki returned to Lake Placid last week to give a $5 million present to state-owned Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington - the second economic boost he has given the area in a month.
Three weeks ago, the governor was in Lake Placid to pledge 20 million dollars in state funds for a new conference center at the former Olympic venue.
The money for Whiteface will pay for repairs and improvements, including upgrading snowmaking equipment and expanding ski trails. A Whiteface spokesman said the work should be completed by the end of summer 2007.
