Swain Puts Itself On The E-Auction Block

By
March 20, 2006

Besides a vacation, buyers can get just about anything they want on eBay: Confederate belt buckles, genuine Bunker Hill dirt, and now - $3 million ski resorts.

Swain Ski and Snowboard Resort has added itself to eBay's seemingly endless array of goods.

A carefully worded but descriptive item No. 4434759717 appeared Jan. 20 under the heading: Ski Resort Business for sale. New York State's finest ski & snowboard area.

Harry R. King of Flaum Management Company, Inc., based in Rochester, New York told the IR he is indeed the "hbkingiii" listed by eBay; he is handling sale of the area.

Rochester financier David Flaum was part of a local investment group which acquired the resort for an undisclosed sum in 1998. They poured "hundreds of thousands" of dollars into revitalizing the 50-year-old, 60-acre resort, according to local newspaper reports.

King said a new buyer/bidder would get "everything: land, building, office and restaurant furniture, fixtures, and equipment, snow making/grooming equipment, lifts, vehicles..."

So far, there have been several offers, but King said no agreement to sell has been reached yet.
