Berry Asks "Is Your Resort Toilet Trained?"

By
October 17, 2005

What is most important to those who give a resort high marks in customer satisfaction?

Toilets, says Michael Berry, chief of the National Ski Areas Association.

It's no laughing matter. An NSAA survey that measured how skiers and snowboarders feel about the resorts they frequent showed that the single most crucial factor in ratings was the quality of bathrooms.

"If you have an executive toilet, turn it into a closet for old computers" and use the same facilities everyone else uses, he advised listeners at the Northeast Summit last month in Bretton Woods, N.H.

A good ratio in male/female facilities is six women's stalls for every men's urinal, he specified.

Only half-joking, Berry offered a new guideline for budgets: "If there's a line outside the woman's restroom, do not invest in a new detachable lift; you are at risk."
