Breaking News: NextSnow Search Nails Hot NBC Slot Before Torino

By
August 08, 2005

Jack Turner's NextSnow Search has won a coveted and potential breakout TV slot as the lead-in to NBC's first-day coverage of the Torino winter Olympics on Saturday, Feb. 11, The Industry Report has confirmed.

Neither NBC nor Sports Illustrated for Kids, the hour-long show's sponsor, has announced the placement officially. But individual ski areas that are holding the local competitions have been notified.

Turner, founder of SnowMonsters, created the program as a season-long series of competitions for boys and girls ages 9-14. They are held throughout the winter at mountain resorts across the U.S. and Canada.

The NBC special will feature 25 winners from each of the previous two years, plus winners of this year's Super Qualifier events. The TV program will be shot at Keystone, Colo. on Jan. 27 and 28.

The actual finals will be rescheduled for an Eastern locale. No word yet on the date or TV plans for that concluding event.
