Gas Problem? What Problem? Say Vermont Officials
By Craig Altschul May 16, 2005
Vermont tourism officials appear fairly unfazed by the sticker shock potential visitors to the Green Mountains will experience this summer. More importantly, they don't think tourists will stay away.
Jason Aldous from the Dept. of Tourism and Marketing and Chris Fogg of the state Chamber of Commerce are telling local media they aren't worried. Aldous feels the weather and the overall state of the economy are more critical issues than gas prices.
Fogg notes that high gas prices probably only add $20-$30 to the cost of a trip "and that's not enough to keep people from traveling." Plus, Fogg reminds, there are 80 million people who live within a day's drive of Vermont.
